Grounding on information processing theory, the model evaluates the local supply of technological information and demand for R& D information processing using fuzzy logic in order to determine the appropriate type of R& D unit. The model is tested with data from German and Swiss MNCs. After further refinement and validation, R& D managers may use the model to analyze and optimize their international R& D organizations.
